Singing the Land

Imbas

Singing the Land is a way to deeply connect to the energies of nature and the interconnectedness of all life through the voice and singing. It is a way of blessing the land and bringing harmony to our lives and the world around us. The voice is a powerful tool for healing and connection – it brings us automatically into relationship with ourselves and the world around us, and accessing our natural and authentic voice can bring us into alignment with our own truth and power, catalysing positive change and healing in our lives.

Singing the Land runs voice and chanting workshops to connect with nature, with ourselves and with the sacred, as well as concerts and concert-meditations of sacred and Earth-inspired music. We also celebrate the seasonal Earth festivals and offer sacred tours of the Hill of Tara.

Everyone has a unique and beautiful voice to express and share, and connecting with it can be a source of deep personal power and healing, and a beautiful blessing for the Earth and each other. Our mission is to provide a space for people to connect with and express their unique voice and the healing and empowerment it can bring.

Singing the Land is run by singer, musician and shamanic practitioner Elaine Ní Chiardha, who has spent many years exploring voice, sound, music, spirituality, healing and connection to the Earth.

TG Lurgan

Imbas

We are a Coláiste Gaeilge (Irish college) in Co Galway, Ireland. Our sole mission is to promote Gaeilge, the cornerstone of Irish identity and culture. The Coláiste is situated in Indreabhán, a Gaeltacht area, where the language has been passed down for thousands of years. Students reside in Tithe Lóistin (local families) for the duration of their three week course with an average of 11 students accommodated with each family.

The purpose of TG Lurgan is to help & support learners in acquiring Gaeilge. It is easier to learn song lyrics than almost anything else. Especially if you like the song and you can easily listen to it over and over. This is great for acquiring new word groups and phrases while improving pronunciation. We are delighted that our YouTube channel is a world-leading minority language platform.

Each one of the 200+ tracks on TG Lurgan have been produced in a voluntary capacity and were 100% funded from parent’s fees. Coláiste (TG) Lurgan does not receive any state funding whatsoever. The YouTube channel is not monetised in any way.

Candlelit Tales

Imbas

Retelling the stories of Irish Myth as they were traditionally told: accessible, entertaining, and with live musical accompaniment, in cozy settings.

We are a group of storytellers, performers, and musicians. We tell Irish myths to a live audience with live music.

Candlelit Tales was founded by brother-sister storytelling duo Aron and Sorcha Hegarty. Driven by a passion for Irish mythology, we started retelling the stories to a near-empty room upstairs in a Dublin pub one rainy evening in November. The next week, the room was a lot less empty, and we were joined by musician Ru O’Sé. By the fourth week, the room was full, and so was the hall outside. We realised that when we share our passion, it becomes contagious. And we’ve been telling stories and playing music from that day to this.

Since then, over the past five years of telling stories in the capital of this nation of storytellers, we have developed and refined our uniquely expressive, naturalistic and modern style. Live music is the heartbeat of all our performances, and a live original music score composed by a team of talented musicians drives the rhythm of the storytelling, weaving through the tale and sweeping the listener away.

We take our favourite myths, and we don’t shy away from the sex and violence that was always present in the Irish storytelling tradition. We keep the depth, the wisdom, and the richness, and leaven it with humour, passion and playfulness to enchant audiences of all ages.

Our guiding light has always been to make these stories accessible and available to as many people as we can. Because we love them, and we want everyone else in the world to have a chance to fall in love with them too.

We are breathing life back into these old stories, for young and for old and in many different ways.

We will make you laugh, make you cry, and maybe even make you roar.

We want to let these stories live again, and we need you to listen.

The Art of Freedom

Amie is a visionary artist, poet, healer and spiritual guide. Her work is a sharing of universal truth, freedom and love, to awaken our souls truest nature.

Beyond the self, and the unconscious illusions of mind, is a vast space of conscious power and freedom. Here, there is a ground of being that connects us to the very matter of existence itself. There is a radiant life force that flows, like water, in an effortless rhythm, facilitating a surrender to what is, in our moment to moment reality. There is a glowing power, that is capable of the greatest bravery and courage. There is a heart that sings, with the lightness of air, as gentle as a summer breeze. And there is endless space. To eternity. To breathe. To be at peace. To be at one with all that is. To be life itself. Awakening to this truth, and embodying it, is the purpose of our being.

This state of conscious wholeness is alive in you now; it is just hiding behind your hurts. Amie works one-to-one with inquisitive souls, to guide the being beyond the mind, into the expanse of infinite consciousness, traversing the landscapes of awakening and beyond, into the embodiment of realisation.

Amie uses her art and words to communicate and share the essence and feeling of this truth.

Brian Callan

My name is Brian Callan.

I am originally from Ardee in Co. Louth but I now live outside Craughwell in Co. Galway with my wife and two boys.

My interest in woodwork began in school where I was lucky enough to have a teacher whose passion for the skill inspired me to make a career from it when I left school.

After running my own cabinet making business for several years, I returned to college to become a woodwork teacher and spent seven years teaching. Following the birth of my children, I took a career break to become a stay-at-home dad while my wife worked as a musician and music teacher.

The harp’s accessible sound and therapeutic value makes it the ideal native instrument with which to introduce preschool children to music.

Researching the topic quickly made me realise very few harps were actually made in Ireland, despite the instrument being our national emblem. I started working on many templates until I manufactured a first prototype in December 2011.

I have now developed a range of fully hand-crafted harps made from locally sourced, naturally felled Irish native timber where possible. My harps are designed to suit all ages and abilities.

Shelly Mooney

Shelly Mooney is an artist, historian and writer from the sunny south-east of Ireland. Born and based in County Wexford, Shelly spent her childhood surrounded by the rich history, as well as the myths and magic of Ireland’s wild and ancient landscape.

Growing up Shelly developed a passion for exploring the Irish countryside; camping trips with her family brought her from one side of the country to the other, creating an innate affection for the island. An ever-growing love for the works of Tolkien helped to fuel her fascination with mythology,
and as she began to realise how closely intertwined Ireland’s history and archaeology are with its myths, perhaps unsurprisingly it became a lifelong passion for her to learn more.

In 2008, Shelly began her degree at University College Dublin, the same year that the economic crisis of the recession hit Ireland. Shelly loved her time in University, majoring in History and German while also taking classes in Archaeology and Horticulture. Once she had graduated, given the uncertainty of the times, Shelly entered the business world to pursue a stable, sensible job. She spent several years working for various companies before realising that it wasn’t for her. A creative soul at heart, she yearned to express her passions and bring her love for Ireland’s rich culture to a wider audience.

In early 2020, with these goals in mind, Shelly launched Tales From The Wood. Here she writes, paints and shares her adventures around the breath-taking sites of Ireland with the rest of the world. Every piece of content is self-generated, from the photos, to the artwork – it is a labour of love in every sense of the word. An active participant in the Irish history and mythology community, Shelly is helping to ensure that the ancient stories and traditions of the Emerald Isle are preserved for future generations, and not lost to the ages.

After getting married in 2018 in an outdoor ceremony high in the Wicklow mountains, Shelly now lives in the quiet countryside of North Wexford with her husband Kev and their two pets; Lola the German Shephard, and Guinevere the silver cat. This peaceful life lends itself to the creative process, however when she’s not thinking about all the things mentioned above, Shelly also enjoys rekindling her horticulture love-affair in the garden, playing music (piano, guitar, whistle & fiddle!), as well as taking long walks with Lola through the countryside. Not to mention baking cakes and spending time with her family.

Aum Stone

Imbas

Luke Reddy

This project is my endeavor to reconnect people to nature through creative expression. I hope that the artwork I create holds meaning and significance to its owner or to the viewer. I hope that it provokes thought, and in doing so, pays homage to the ancient cultures of the world. Cultures who I believe shared a deeper connection and lived more harmoniously with our great Mother Earth.

Why Aum ?

Aum is a Sanskrit word & symbol, which is said to mean ‘the supreme vibration by which all things are brought into manifestation’. It also coincidentally sounds a lot like the pronunciation of a very important, ancient Gaelic script, Ogham – believed to be the first script that the Irish language was ever written in. Before Ogham, the Irish language was an oral tradition and so too was all of the knowledge and wisdom that it contained. Some studies suggest that Ogham was created as a secret cryptic script to hide and preserve knowledge from the invading Roman and Christian crusades. Usually I don’t love a play on words, but ‘Aum’ felt fitting. Interestingly enough, some early Irish bares strong resemblance to Sanskrit and even shares many words, with both most likely having origins stemming from a common Indo-European language spoken 5000 years ago or more. Stone is a beautiful and ancient natural material, words and language are incredibly powerful tools, engraving words permanently into stone is my way of amplifying their significance. I could go on for days, and in my blog, I intend to, that it precisely why we invented blogs. But for the moment this is just a brief introduction to the project.
