Imbas

In Old Irish, “imbas” means “inspiration”, and more specifically, the kind of sacred poetic channelling, almost like a trance, that was characteristic of the arts of the fili, the poets. This inspiration was believed to come from the Otherworld. Poets would open up to this divine inspiration, and let themselves be the medium through which something new and worthwhile could be manifested into the world. We believe our people are blessed with an astounding level of talent in the artistic field. It runs in our blood. Makers, writers, painters, singers, musicians, athletes, dancers, performers, storytellers, crafters; creators of every kind and color from deep within the rainbow. We believe this inspiration is a sacred gift that ought to be enhanced, supported and shared with the world. The focus of the IMBAS province is to facilitate materials, workspaces, knowledge, broadcasting and overall supporting of artistic endeavours related to our culture and the land.
